Job Description

About Us
The Hockey Family is a hockey media outlet which has many social media platforms which provide hockey news and related information to the wider hockey community around the world. The Hockey Family was founded in 2012 but only in its current form. The founder had many different pathways to distribute hockey information before the creation of The Hockey Family, including his first information distribution conception ‘HockeyAddicts’ which started way back in 2007 but he always thought that hockey was more of a family orientated sport and thus ‘The Hockey Family’ was created. We have grown steadily over the years and are now looking for more volunteer hockey writers and media managers to help us grow even further.

What we are looking for…
We are looking for enthusiastic hockey people, from around the world, who want to share their opinion and enthusiasm for the sport they love with likeminded people globally. The volunteer hockey writers will be given exclusive access to players, tournaments, events and/or anything to do with hockey wherever possible, so that they can create interesting and informative articles for The Hockey Family website and be read globally.

We are a fast-growing volunteer organisation who need people to cover national and international events in various parts of the world.

What you will get is a chance to be a part of a great friendly, family orientated, organisation committed to promoting hockey wherever and whenever we can. All we ask that you are dedicated to committing to writing articles on a regular basis and also are willing to attend tournaments so that you can create interesting articles for the hockey community. We are currently in talks with manufacturers so that, in the very near future, we can provide free THF apparel to our team of volunteers as a thank you for their commitment and dedication to us.

What we would like…
We are looking for someone who has an aptitude, passion and enthusiasm for hockey, a good understanding of the game and its rules and a proficiency in writing is desirable.

Other Desirables
• A nose for good hockey stories.
• The ability to write quickly and to flexible deadlines.
• An understanding of hockey and the rules.
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to form lasting relationships.
• Have flexibility in the hours that are committed to the different projects or stories.

It’s a great opportunity for anyone who has ever been interested in writing or Journalism and better still, doing it for a sport that you hopefully love and want to give back to.

So come and join our very friendly, family orientated, team of hockey writers and be a part of something big. We are all part of ‘The Hockey Family’ and we are Stronger Together.

Other Opportunities Include:
Volunteer Social Media Manager – manage and post on behalf of The Hockey Family and interact with our hockey family around the world on our social media platforms.

Volunteer Regional Media Managers – manage and share hockey posts from, Europe, Oceania, Africa, Pan-America and Asia on our social media platforms and responsible to the Social Media Manager.
