Job Description
Salary:
Director of Academy. Circa £10,000 a season (self employed)
The Academy
Around 400 members to support squads from U8-12 (Training Sunday mornings) to U14-18 (Training Midweek evenings). Currently we are recruiting from over 75 schools.
A very good track record of team success in local and national competitions and a growing list of players and former players participating in Regional and National Performance Squads both junior and senior levels.

Attention to detail with the ability to see projects through to completion
Knowledge of the England Hockey Player Pathway
The ability to show initiative and drive actions forward
A can-do attitude with an ability to get things done in an evolving programme of work
Solid spreadsheet skills and computer literacy
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work alone and as part of a team to achieve actions quickly and expertly
Appropriate temperament to work with parents, volunteers and manage a team of coaches
Reporting Line:
The DAH reports to the Chairman of the club. Day-to-day support will be provided by the Director of Club hockey (DCH), Director of Performance Hockey (DPH) and the Club Administrator. The role has a place on the Club Executive Committee.
Mission Statement:
All junior players are given the opportunity to grow in a playing and coaching environment that supports the individual’s playing aspirations, no matter what that might be, whilst achieving success across all Competitions entered.
Job Purpose:
To deliver all aspects of the junior hockey programme, in line with the mission statement
To work closely with the DCH, DPH, Club Administrator and other major stakeholders of the hockey club to achieve the club’s objectives
Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial:
Oversee the budget for the Academy
To receive and sign-off all Academy coaching invoices before forwarding to the accounts department
To ensure membership is kept to a financially viable number
Run holiday camps in order to generate extra income
Oversee Bursary scheme for Academy players
Coaching
Coordinate Academy Coaches for outdoor and indoor training sessions and matches, using our management app, Teamo
Ensure all squads have the necessary personnel including coaches, managers and umpires. Be prepared to step in to cover coaching shortages on short notice.
Communicate with the club’s Safeguarding and Welfare officer that all Academy personnel are suitably qualified for the role they are doing i.e. DBS check, coaching qualifications and first aid qualifications
Plan and deliver the state school outreach programme
Provide coach education and guidance for Academy coaches and volunteers
Administration
Book hockey facilities
Manage and oversee the TBB Talent Development Pathway Academy
Oversee EH Championship, leagues and friendly fixtures for all Academy teams
Manage the admissions and recruitment activities of the club
Co-ordinate with local schools and submit yearly Junior Development Centre nominations
Communication
Assist with the integration of juniors into senior teams via club’s internal Talent Development Pathway.
Assist with the production and distribution of information regarding hockey to members and their parents
Create updates to the TBBHC website and Social Media in conjunction with Club Administrator and out sourced Marketing resource.
Social
Assist Social Committee and Club Administrator with Academy End of Season Awards
Organise the nominations and engravings of all end of season trophies and awards
Health and Safety
Ensure that the club’s health and safety rules are observed
Create risk assessment templates and ensure all coaches are kept up to date with any changes
Ensure all those working in the Academy have the necessary coaching and safeguarding qualifications

Umpire recruitment and training in conjunction with the Club Umpire Development Officer
