SPORT AT ST MARGARET’S
St Margaret’s has a long, proud history of women in sport. The school was one of three founding members of the Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) in 1908, an association that continues today. The primary school is a member of the Andrew’s Cup Competition. As testament to the school’s commitment to the sporting program at the school, in 2020 the school’s sports precinct was completed and opened. This world class facility incorporates a water polo sized heated swimming pool with two 50m lanes, tennis courts with lights, gymnasium with an oak sprung floor, a strength and conditioning gym, an indoor climbing wall featuring seven belay stations and 76m2 of climbing, a dedicated ergometer room to support rowing and modern health and physical education classrooms.
THE ROLE – HOCKEY COACHES 2021
St Margaret’s has a long history of participation in the QGSSSA hockey competition. The popularity of the sport has greatly increased over the years, which has resulted in St Margaret’s becoming one of the most successful schools within the QGSSSA competition. This hockey season runs from May to September.
The hockey program is coordinated by Teacher Coordinators, a Lead Coach and a number of Coaches. Coaches lead two training sessions per week with fixtures to be held on Saturdays in Term 3 of the school year.
We are currently seeking the following for the 2021 Hockey Season:
Coaches – The role of coach is to deliver coaching sessions developed by the Lead Coach and which encourage students in skill and technique development. To view the position description please click here.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
You will be an experienced and qualified coach who has a proven ability to develop young Hockey players skills and instil a passion for the sport.
- All coaches must have, or be working towards, a minimum Hockey Australia – Level 1 Coaching accreditation. Hockey Australia Coaching accreditation or higher will be highly regarded.
- Previous coaching experience.
- Experience in playing hockey.
- A working with children blue card or exemption card.
- A current first aid and CPR certificate.
