Job Description

The Director of Hockey role will be focused on two elements, our junior performance development and 1st team performance, but will also cover supporting elements. Due to the calibre of individual we are looking to recruit, we are open to working with individual to define and shape the role.
The Director of Hockey would be expected to watch our 1st XI home games (and occasional but vital away games) and deliver a post-game debrief. You will also work with 1st & 2nd Management groups to understand the strength in depth to support the first teams. We would expect you to work with the club through the off season to recruit players and personnel at the top end of the club as required.
We would also expect you to provide significant input to our junior club coaching programme, including overseeing the whole of our junior coaching programme, both midweek and on Sunday mornings. You would work with our existing coaches to ensure that our juniors our getting the coaching they need to develop into performance players. You would also lead our holiday camp programme, run predominantly at Easter and Summer.

BromBeck HC are looking to recruit a highly experience individual to be our first paid Director of Hockey, as part of our ongoing development strategy. The role will have a focus on high performance hockey, overseeing our junior development pathway at all ages and our elite adults (Men’s and Ladies 1s & 2s). BromBeck HC is one of the oldest and proudest hockey clubs in the UK, following the merger at the start of the 2005/6 season, we continue to be a consistently high performing club, with both our men’s and ladies’ 1st teams competing in the East Conference of National League. We have 9 adult men’s and 6 adult ladies’ teams but as important, we are a very sociable club with an active events programme. We also have a thriving junior section with over 300 members. They compete at all ages from U8 to U18, with the boys historically winning national titles indoors and outdoors. We have a detailed development plan and this role is key to helping us deliver the plan. You would also lead our holiday camp programme, run predominantly at Easter and Summer. Qualifications: Required: England Hockey Introduction to Hockey Coaching Qualification (or Level 2 equivalent). DBS checks, first aid and child protection training will need to be undertaken. Desired: England Hockey Advanced Coach Programme (or Level 3 equivalent), experience of coaching or playing National Premier League hockey, other relevant qualifications. Reporting to: Hockey Club Chairman Closing date: 30 June 2020 Remuneration: £35+ per hour (plus performance bonus) with a minimum time commitment of 6 hours per week (in season).
