Job Description

Event Coordinator
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is seeking two candidates for the positions of Event Coordinator. They should be ready to enter the fast-paced world of hockey and demonstrate the FIH core values of being inclusive, optimistic, progressive and dynamic.
With further game-changing developments in the pipeline, including the introduction of a new portfolio of events in 2019, it is certainly an exciting time to be joining the FIH.
The role is a full-time position based in Lausanne, Switzerland and will require the ability to travel to support the delivery of events.

Role Summary:
The Event Coordinator will actively assist the event team and its objectives, providing coordination support for a number of different events. The Event Coordinator will also take a lead in development of allocated projects on event documentation and bidding documentation. Depending on experience the Event Coordinator may lead the project planning for certain events.

Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities
Support the Head of Events with planning stages of the allocated event, including but not limited to areas such as accommodation, accreditation, guests, manuals, guides, coordination and minutes of meetings etc
Project planning for events under the guidance of the Head of Events
Liaise internally with all other departments in the FIH as required. This may include sport,
broadcast, commercial, marketing and communications departments
Liaise externally with National Associations and hosts as required, distributing information and following up on all operational matters
Attend on site if required during set-up phase of event and take lead on set-up and support of planning areas and FIH office

The successful applicants will support the planning and delivery of a number of FIH events including the Men’s and Women’s World Cups, the Champions Trophies, the Indoor/Junior World Cups and the Olympic Qualification events. The position will report directly to the FIH Events and Strategy Director but will work as part of the team assigned to a particular event that is led by a Head of Events.

Coordinate the organisation of event meetings, event reports and preparing supporting materials as necessary
Support the development of event manuals, templates and guidelines for events in the new portfolio from 2019 onwards
Skills & Experience Required
Committed and enthusiastic individual demonstrating the FIH’s values, good judgement, cooperation respect and emotional intelligence
Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in national/international sports or major event industry projects
Team work orientated inclusive approach to internal staff and external hosts as part of a diverse team, openness to change
Experience of working in a pressure environment with a can-do attitude to solving problems and issues, maintaining a positive attitude during challenging situations
Good planning and project management skills, ability to deliver against targets
Adaptability and flexible approach to working hours and operations
Fluency in English is a prerequisite, other languages an advantage
