The vision of Midlands Hockey is to grow a Regional Hockey franchise that provides players, coaches, managers, officials and administrators from the constituent Associations, the opportunity to achieve at the highest level. Their focus is to build and connect communities to hockey, while meeting the needs of their respective Associations and Hockey New Zealand.
The focus of this influential senior management role, will be to lead the strategic and annual planning, and the implementation of high performance strategies and programmes for all Midlands teams and players. It will also include talent identification and management, and the strengthening and development of leadership capabilities for players, coaches and managers. It is expected that you will actively work with the five Associations that comprise the Midlands region, to continually improve and integrate performance programmes and systems in their respective area. The strengthening of relationships with key stakeholders like Hockey NZ, existing funders and sponsors, along with attracting new sponsors and funders, will be an important part of the position.
To be considered for this role, you will need to have proven experience in management, responsible for developing and delivering performance hockey outcomes, ideally but not exclusively at a regional or national level. Having effectively managed academy programmes, player development and leading successful national tournament campaigns will be sought after skills, along with well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication abilities. Strategic thinking and planning skills, commercial acumen, good organisational and financial management capabilities, are also sought-after requirements for the role.
